APMC is an ethical gold mining company
APMC’s CEO and Chairman, Melvin K. Jensen, founded Asia Pacific Mining and Civil (APMC) on honourable values with a vision to become one of the leading eco-friendly and ethical mining companies operating worldwide.
it started with a vision
Starting with Papua New Guinea
Melvin recognizes Papua New Guinea is rich in natural resources, but as classified by the International Monetary Fund, it is a developing country gravely lacking in social programs, education, law enforcement, medical facilities and healthcare services, and more.
Melvin is a PNG national and an Australian citizen who grew up within Australia. Part of why Melvin formed APMC, and why he decided to first open operations within PNG, was to create a stable in-country presence which would enable him to not only pursue local mining projects, but also allow him to help Papua New Guineans.
He desires to pay his good fortune forward to those most in need of a helping hand by implementing social programs, building much needed infrastructure, schools and hospitals in disadvantaged communities, and providing job opportunities to improve the lives and livelihoods of locals.
“When it comes to particularly the mining industry in Papua New Guinea, I am ever the optimist. There is much chatter on whether the past decade should be classified as Papua New Guineans wasted years. And while the past 10 years have been less than ideal, we need to set eyes firmly on the future. I have setup the Asia Pacific Mining and Civil gold mining company with the promise of delivering a brighter future for Papua New Guineans over the next 20 years."
"This is the place my people call home, the place friends and stewards of the island continent entrusted to us 40,000 years ago. I will work together with local government, NGO’S and community leaders to contribute to community needs. From building proper housing and infrastructure facilities, to improving healthcare, education and recreation programs and facilities, to constructing a solar power station for reliable, green energy, and creating Australian/New Zealand standards of schools and hospital facilities. Building communication towers, and sporting facilities, as well as introducing first-world farming and agricultural programs. Basically, I wish to use my privilege to ‘give-back’, to create jobs and bring the people out of poverty, giving them the option to attain a Western lifestyle."
“My commitment is to help promote and develop PNG. Eventually I wish to expand APMC further overseas, especially to the 3rd world and developing continents like Asia and some parts of Africa, to give back to the communities we operate within and contribute to the society and the country’s economic growth.”

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
PNG Community Initiatives to Date
As part of APMC’s mining operation agreement with Madang Province in PNG, the Australian mining company built a school and hospital in Madang. Previously the township had just one school and no proper, modern medical facilities despite its large population of 28,000 people. Now locals have more options for schooling and access to first world medical care.

Upcoming Projects
The Malaumanda copper and gold project is owned by local landowners and share holders. The project is spearheaded by a small mineral exploration company which is not yet fully operational, but in the near future APMC will be engaging in some form of partnership to develop the mine to provide jobs and other local community benefits such as new infrastructure and facilities.
APMC are also planning to begin a small alluvial gold mining and mineral exploration project soon at Kansimei gold vein deposit and start small scale mining in mid-2022.
an ICMM initiative
Responsible Care Program
Asia Pacific Mining and Civil (APMC) is a participant in the global, Responsible Care Program alongside other ethical mining companies, a voluntary initiative developed by the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM).
This program drives continuous ‘best practice’ improvement in health, safety, environmental performance, and social and governance requirements for the mining industry. And also fosters open and transparent lines of communication with stakeholders.
For example, gold production is one of the most environmentally friendly, resource mining operations in existence. The total carbon emissions for global gold production is significantly smaller than most other major mined products such as coal, steel and aluminum.
As a gold mining company, APMC aims to lead responsible gold mining operations into the future, adapting and adopting advanced, cutting-edge sustainable mining & civil construction technology, and making operational changes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving energy efficiency of gold mining and civil construction operations.
For example, APMC will adopt technologies such as gold catalysts to help convert CO2 into useful fuels, as well as implement use of gold nanomaterials which enhance hydrogen fuel cell performance.
